The Explorer is a watch whose origins go all the way to the summit of Mount Everest, which was conquered in 1953 by the late Sir Edmund Hilary. The climbers were each equipped with Rolex Oyster Perpetual chronometers and inevitably, following the success of the ascent, the Explorer, developed in tribute to the achievement, became a much in demand watch for mountaineers and would be adventurers. Everything that as learned on the ascent was incorporated into the watch from an all steel bracelet to a Twinlock winding crown.
